Your English composition placement options are determined by your United States high school grade point average (GPA) and English courses completed in a United States high school.

If you answered "Not Comfortable" to 3 or more questions, we recommend that you take English 115 with English 45 support.
If you answered "Somewhat comfortable" or "Comfortable" to 3 or more questions, you are probably ready for English 115.
ESL 115A College Composition for Multilingual Students is a course for students whose first language is not English but want some help correcting ESL errors in their college-level writing. Students entering this class should be able to answer "Somewhat Comfortable" or "Comfortable" to these questions and to write an essay with multiple paragraphs in English without a translator.

If I have study a subject, I am going to study counseling.

Student’s Answer:

Some people think that a single person cannot make an important decision alone, I am disagree with that statement because I think it depends in the mentality and how mature is the person who is going to take a decision.
One example can be to choose a career. Every single person has the right to choose a career to study and nobody can persuade any person to study a career that the person doesn’t want to. On this way, choose a career is an important decision that a single person should take alone.
In other way, there are people not mature enough who need some help to take decisions, the children for example they are not mature enough to know which is better for them, so their parents have to help them take decisions. So I think it depends on the mentality and how mature is a person about an issue to know if he/she is able to make an important decision or if he/she needs some help deciding the correct way to act.

Question: If you could travel back in time or into the future, which would you choose and what exact period of time would you like to experience?
Student’s Answer:

In life, there are a lot of important periods of time. In my opinion, I would choose to travel into the future because, I would like to know in what place I would live, what is going to be my family , and to know what career I will choose.
First, I would like to travel into the future because I would like to know in what place of the world I will live. For example, I have been wondering to live in Barcelona. Spain because is a nice place where a lot of people go to travel. For instance, I would also like to live in San Diego, California because I want to be near of my family.
Next, I would like to travel into the future because, I want to know what is going to be my family. For example, if I am going to get married with a Mexican or an American guy. Furthermore, I want to know how many children I will have, if a girl or a boy or maybe more. I could also never get married and live with my parents for the rest of my life.
Finally, I would like to travel into the future because I would like to know what career I would choose to study. For example, last year I was thinking about to become a doctor. Of a big hospital and study very hard. Furthermore, I was wondering to become a teacher of Sweetwater High School, which is the school I go to; however, now I realized I want to become the general manager of a hotel.
In conclusion, I would like to choose to travel into the future, because I would like to know what will happen in my life, and what is going to be of me. I would like to answer all those questions that are on my mind.

Question: Is it acceptable for humans to keep animals in confinement? Support your position with logical reasons and relevant evidence.
Student’s Answer:

Animals were not made to be human entertainment. Places like circuses, zoos, and resort parks are not places to keep animals. Forcing animals to perform and be entertainment for people is not right because the earth belongs to everyone, humans and animals and we should not take animals out of their natural environments because it can cause extinction, destroy habits, and be dangerous for people.
To begin, if people start to take animals out of their homes than they may start to not naturally thrive in nature. Many animals throughout history have been endangered or extinct because of human activity. This happens throughout the world as human beings are removing animals and cutting down trees. If humans keep on removing animals from their homes and putting them into confinement, then more species will extinct. Not only can humans cause extinction, but they also destroy nature when the put animals in confinement.
When humans remove animals from their homes, this can effect other animals in their environment. For example, many animals depend on predators and prey to keep their environment in balance. If we remove a predator from their home, then the animals that they eat could increase and then eat too much plants, which could harm the habitat and destroy the homes of other animals. This happened in the past when packs of wolves were removed from the forest and there were too many deer. Conversely, if predators do not have any food to eat, they may die or move to another location to find food, this can effect the natural habitat of animals. However, there is another reason to worry about removing these animals and putting them into confinement because these animals can be dangerous.
Even though many animals are in cages or confinement at the zoo or the circus, there is a chance that something dangerous could happen. Wild animals are not supposed to be around people, so sometimes they escape or hurt the people taking care of them. Likewise, people seeing the animals for entertainment could be injured by accidently falling into an animal's confinement space. This happened a few years ago when a small child fell into a gorilla's habitat. He could have been injured or killed because gorillas are much stronger than humans. It is not worth the risk to remove wild animals from their homes and confine them for human pleasure.
In conclusion, human beings should not capture and confine wild animals. Not only can cause extinction, but capturing and confining animals can be devastating to their environments. It also can be dangerous for humans. Humans are just intelligent animals, so we should be smart enough to know that confining animals is wrong. Even with best intentions, using animals for our entertainment is not just wrong, but harmful and dangerous for everyone on earth. No more animal confinement!
